How to Protect Yourself
It is vital that you understand the causes of Ozone Depletion before you can completely understand how to help. Please visit our Causes Page to find out more information.

There are many things that we can do to protect the ozone layer and to prevent further depletion. And all of our efforts are paying off. For the first time, the ozone hole is starting to close slightly, which could be a posotive sign. However, much more work is needed in order to completely solve the problem

The U.S. Government has played a big role in efforts to save the ozone:

Halons (a more efficient than CFC's in depleteing ozone chemical) has been restricted to use only in fire exstingushers.
The Copenhagen Agreement: States that all use of CFC's (production and commerical use) were to stop by the year 1996. Agreement has been upheld and aersols and other products no longer contain CFC's.
Freon and other such CFC's (like a certain type of foam) have also been banned (due to the dissolvment of the use of CFC's).

What you can do to help:

Don't buy products with ozone destroying chemicals
Do not burn anything that contains Ozone destroying chemicals
